NEXT BERG RIVER KAYAK TRAILS.
The Berg river offers some of the best kayak based bird watching in the country! Here we see fresh water birds, sea bird and land birds! Kayaks don't scare the birds away like motor boats and can get into more shallow areas not usually accessible to other craft.
The Port Owen marina is situated here from where we can hop onto an ocean going yacht and sail to St. Helena bay or go on a Whale watching boat to see the big guys from close-up!
Our most popular expedition takes you from Sandy point Harbor to Slippers bay and from there to the Berg river mouth where you get taken up-river by the tide to Swartjiesbaai where we camp for the night. Fishing in the river is good. This is a kayak based fly fisherman's paradise.
